We spent nearly 15 minutes observing her on this and one other rock near by. During this time, she exhibited pretty erratic behavior, frequently changing poses suddenly and swatting at the air around her head and neck. On occasion it seemed like she was bothered by grasses and weeds which were near her face and other times it seemed like there were flying insects that were bothering her. Of course it could have also been the multiple safari vehicles nearly surrounding her! In short, I’m not certain exactly what caught her attention at this moment.

Here are a couple shots of a leopard we came across in Maasai Mara National Park, Kenya. Unlike the one we saw in Samburu National Reserve, this female leopard was more elusive, only briefly coming out from the thick brush for short periods at a time.
