there's a whole thread on FM forums about people cancelling. Essentially, R3 shooters have too much time on their hands between now and when the orders are fulfilled that the GAS subsides and they get back to reality. Most realize the diminishing returns, the R3 is simply too good and priced too well.

another factor is sony's lifecycle, it's way too fast, not spending my money that soon.

Especially the last sentence is a good point.

It could take merely 6 months to see savings increase by waiting.

Not much of a guess. it happens for every new camera it seems.

What I found interesting with the guy in that video, was his priorities. It's actually one of the more unusual videos in the way its presented. It practically dwells more on photography and his goals than it does on the camera itself.

In the beginning, the A7R iv vs. travel was so much different than the more typical camera vs. camera videos that are often posted on Youtube

I do agree he's knows what he wants.

There's a difference in having an "upgrade path" or someone that does not own an high res A7R series body.

Right now it's very appealing for someone to buy an A7R4 with A9 focus system. Or price point wise people can buy a killer A7R3 with plenty of mega pixels to play with.

I choose hired jobs on my accord. I have plenty of gear to satisfy all of my current needs. I'll be honest and say the A7r4 has peaked my interest since I do not own a high res camera.

I will patiently wait as I'm looking forward to see what Sony will be putting out in the next while.....also see what the next Canon EOS R will be. My Canon lenses are itching to get used more often.....

I currently own an A7r iii. I don't really care about the extra resolution. Indeed, if I am given the choice, I would choose 42mp over 61mp. I do care if there were improvements in the dynamic range and low light performance. However, so far, it seems there is barely any improvements in these departments (when shooting raw).

All other improvements are more than welcome particularly, AF improvement (real time tracking) matters to me for when I shoot video. On the other hand, I am very disappointed we are still missing a thorough touch screen interface. I also wished, they had added a focus stacking feature to the new model. So at this point, I am holding on to my A7r iii most likely bypassing A7r iv and waiting for A7r v. I am not sure sure if the current improvements justify spending an additional $1500-$1800 to upgrade my A7r iii.

I forgot the link .. may be on Sony's site, or related to the A7R iv

But it looked like specs for release will included smaller file options. If true, that would be extra good news for buyers.
