What an incredible and unusual shot, Shalu. It not often you see a hummingbird grab an insect out of the air, let alone get a great image of one accomplishing it. Your reflexes have to be in peak condition. :-)

Thank you very much for your compliments, Vassilis, sidknee, Bill and Mike! Funny thing is I wasn't really trying to shoot the hummingbirds. I was waiting for the bald eagles to appear along with a few photog friends. A few hummingbirds were zipping about in the air while we were waiting, so we fired some shots at them to kill time. I found this series when I reviewed my captures. The hummingbird appeared to miss the target, only caught a mosquito leg in the next frame:

Pretty amazing to me that these guys can cruise around 50+ feet in the air, spot a fish and dive in and snatch it out.

But here we have Mr Overachiever here....comes up with two at a time.

Enjoy!

What a cool, sharp shot, Ted!! This one must have flown right up to take a close look at you. I've had them do that to me. I really think it's their curiosity.
