Nice shots Renata, but I don't think this was Cairns... possibly Townsville instead? Looks too dry for Cairns.

The standard approach/departure flightpath for Cairns is over the Great Barrier Reef which provides views like this (from earlier this week!):

Stephen, not Townsville, didn't go there. Let me look at the EXiF and my calendar to see which it was. The only other city could have been Darwin or Brisbane.

Stephen, the shots above are from the approach to Darwin. Checked my RAW files and found one bad shot of leaving Cairns; see below. Didn't have luck seeing much of the reef from the air bur I scuba dove and snorkeled the heck out of it with only a bunch of lousy shots from a horrible rental go-pro.
