golfecho (I will regret that) ![]() More info | Aug 22, 2019 11:08 | #2979 Not quite an airshow, but perhaps close enough . . . today (Aug 22nd, 2019) we launched the final Delta IV single-core rocket from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. It lifted a next-generation GPSIII satellite into orbit for the USAF. The first shot was from my 5DMkII mounted about 1900 feet from the rocket. Remote sound trigger. The second is with my EOS R with a Sigma 600mm lens hand held about 4.5 miles away (and about 30 seconds into flight).

How close to the sound operated close camera did the smoke cloud get? Not close at all. I was 1900 feet or so away, and others placed their cameras 150-200 feet away. Theirs get blasted by smoke and debris quite regularly. I just don't yet consider my 5DII a "throw-away" quite yet.
