A couple more from my 300mm f/2.8 test at OKC Dodgers game. (AAA)

1) Bat on the ball.

I recently discovered that amateur baseball is being played here in Edinburgh, Scotland, and as it's less than a mile from the house I decided to try and take some shots. I've done motorsport and skate/bmx on-and-off for years (going back to film on my EOS3) but this REALLY gave me an appreciation for the work I'm seeing on this thread and in the press/online. My knowledge of the game will improve and help going forward, but all I can say is I'm glad I'm not learning to shoot baseball and paying for film

So - I took 400+ shots, liked ~25, and felt happy sharing 8 with the world

(Canon EOS 7D with a very second-hand 300/2.8 IS)

Bkopperl, Thank you. When were you at ARC? Did you play baseball for them? I have been covering them for the last 3 seasons.

I was lucky enough to get a look at Franklin Perez, Detroit's former #1 prospect, in one of his two appearances for the Lakeland Tigers this year. I hope this kid can get healthy and dazzle us next year.

Last OKC Dodgers game of the season. A day game (11:05 am first pitch). It was hot but having good light was awesome to be able to get super high shutter speeds to freeze the action.

Wow! 25,600 ISO. Not gonna lie, I thought it would have been a lot more noisy. Great expression from the batter and picture though!

It is noisy, but sometimes an image is about the content and not the technical aspects. The editor of the the news outlet I shot these for liked it.

It's all good! I love it! I'm just saying with other setups then what you were using, it would of never been postable. The expression of the batter is what is the best!
