For me this camera is just a lot of fun, I've taken it to weddings, casual outings, trips etc that I normally wouldn't bother to take a camera. I really don't enjoy taking pics on my phone so having something this small that can shoot RAW, has manual controls is really nice. I find the image quality is really good, far better than my old G15.

Usually the thrill of new gear wears off but in this case I'm learning to enjoy it more and more.

I still enjoy the DSRL but for most stuff I do these days this works just fine.

It's a great travel/holiday camera. I got tired of the weight of the DSLR + lenses.

Quality and usability is generally very good.

Occasionally, I miss having a viewfinder in bright sunlight - but can usually get around that.
One other thing I've learned to do is to check the ISO it selects on night shots. It had a tendency to choose high-iSO rather than longer exposure.
I now tend to set these manually, when I can, for better quality.

The older you get, the heavier DLSLRs become -?

The current generation of G series sensors are great.

BTW, I use one of these in bright sunlight:

The flip screen is really useful but yes I too would always prefer a viewfinder but considering the size of the camera I can live without it. At first I thought this was too small, my old G15 is a more ideal size but this camera comes with me everywhere.

For night shots I set up my custom setting to have a long exposure with the ND filter etc so I don't have to fiddle with it.

Been planning to get something like that. Ideally one I can use on the DSLRs too.

Good idea - could never really settle on what to use the Custom feature for. This would be a good candidate for it.

I purchased mine on Amazon where it was advertised for DSLRs. So I posed some questions and other purchasers told me it was universal.

I posted details here just after I purchased it. Apart from a crap pouch it is very well constructed and has stood the rest of time. It's lightweight; I carry around my neck whenever I have my camera.

Thanks - found it on Amazon, and it's in the basket for whenever I put in my next order.

Great, I hope it serves you well.

BTW mine arrived from Malaysia; took about 5 days if I remember correctly.

She's been hanging around the corner of my garage for about a month now. He web is quite large--at least 3 feet wide, plus the looooooong anchoring threads. She doesn't mind the garage door going up and down but she really doesn't like it when I go over and look at her.

I've been trying out a small handle grip with my Mk II to provide more stability (unlike with my DSLR gear, my hands shake with a small compact) -

I have the Shoulderpod for taking videos with my iPhone and the grip with it has been working well with the Mk II (and an Olympus TG-6 I use in bad weather).
