A rare garden visitor

A brown hairstreak butterfly. Only seen this once before in the garden.

sony a6000 Sigma 105 OS. Some of the shots have been focus stacked by hand in PS.

She looks very fresh, Brian - both tails intact and plenty of scales and fringing - so I don't think she could have come from far away. Perhaps there's a colony nearby? Lucky you, if so - we have to drive nearly 30 miles to the nearest one we know of.

Any blackthorn thickets in the neighbourhood, with nectaring plants like brambles nearby? Might be worth checking out... They're the only Hairstreak I know that will readily sit with open wings. Purples seem reluctant and are probably way-up in a tree anyway; Greens, White Letter, and Blacks - never.

Don't know of any blackthorne but some of the gardens here are quite big so don't know what might be in the back.
I'm just happy to see something other than my normal speckled woods and holly blues in the garden.
