You know what is hard about these shots.... the subject on the second shot is much better than the first shot, but the bokeh in the second shot very distracting. You almost loose the runner. I wish I knew what to tell ya what to do with a shot like this. Bokeh in the first shot is nice round balls... if you could only swap the backgrounds. I know that isn't an option, or shouldn't be. Maybe bringing shadows up would help blur the background more.... Bring highlights down just a smidge... you can see they are blowing... on the 150 patch the most. You've got some room there. Great eyes. Great clues in the background something really good is going to happen.

Maybe others have other suggestions... but nicely captured.

thats my 400 5.6 so backgrounds wont be as blurred?
It was sunny so I used it for more reach
Shot whole game with it
my main concern is focus sharpness and not soft

You've got good action.... i've never seen that lens be so contrasty. Are you pushing "clarity" by any chance in post? If you are, try using sharpening with a lot of masking added.... The action is great... just backgrounds in some are acting off. Even at 5.6 with the depth you have against the background I wouldn't expect the high contrast edges you are getting. Remember that a lot of the images you see here in general have a lot of sharpening added.... are not straight from camera that way. Make sure you are measuring yourself apples to apples.

I think your showing a good eye for the action....

I've had a lot of trouble with my original 7D. At first I thought it was just missing focus, but I have so many photos where there is NOTHING in focus. It sits on the shelf more than likely it will end up in the junk pile as I see no reason to pay to have a 10 year old camera repaired.

The Andale Indians literally ran away with this game. It was 35-0 at halftime.
