Joe, great shot and if the horizon was level, it would be fantastic :) Not trying to be mean, as you know.

Did a fun off trail excursion on Mt. Hood yesterday... was around a 14 mile day / 4000' elevation gain from where I started, def a well earned photo!

Thank you!

I posted more glacier shots on the 100-400 II thread.

Looks like we just had some snow > 6000' so should be fun going back up in a few days as most of the rock will be covered and should look more like fresh snow/typical glacier, but with the crevasse still exposed.

This time of year is kind of that nice balance for lighting/going up high/less crowds/new snow with fall color below.

Both are lovely but the second one appears over-saturated on my calibrated monitor. Was that your intention?

Wow! Is that frozen copper sulphate?

markesc wrote in post #18927569 (external link)
No copper on Mt. Hood I'm afraid; You're looking at glacier ice with rock/sand mixed in.

Here is a scientific explanation, Pippan https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_ice_(glacial (external link))

Ha Ha, yes! I was about to post the 2 images when I googled Isle of sky and saw ones that seemed way more saturated than mine. So I decided to leave the 1st one as is and add a bunch of saturation to the 2nd. Wondering if I would get any reaction from it. Good catch.

I agree, for me they both appear to be over saturated.

This was taken on Sunday and more like the current colours in this area - a few miles from the Isle of Skye!

Thanks for that explanation Renata. I've learnt something already today!

There are many answers to question.
