I need help identifying this bird. There were 5 of them foraging along the shore of a lake near Flagstaff, AZ yesterday. I believe it's a grackle based on its size, beak and yellow eyes.

Wish I could see profile of head better. I’d think Brewer’s versa Grackle. Juvenile
Light under throat is concerning though. Rusty Blackbird? Lol unlikely.
Someone will jump in soon.
Nice photo

Brewer's blackbird (juvenile or female). Thanks Park Ranger!

Another Brewer's versa grackle? Park Ranger: what do you think? This is a different bird than the previous shot.

BTW, I couldn't find a thing online about a brewer's versa grackle.

Yeah I really think it’s a Brewer’s. Juvenile or female. Fall season birds can be a real headache for ID sometimes. I also wouldn’t completely rule out Rusty. I emagine you need to hear them to be sure?

I don’t think it’s Grackle. Beaks just not powerful or long enough for me.

Good looking birds

Possibly the meaning was "versus." Brewer's blackbird? (external link)

Yep...no wonder I couldn't find a "brewer's versa grackle"
It looks like a female Brewer's blackbird except all the pictures I've come across show them with dark eyes. I posted a pic of a female in August. https://photography-on-the.net …showthread.php?p=18905359
