You are quite correct Charles, an annual event in country NSW.
The best way by far to see the sights, just very early starts.

I would love to do that someday. I have just never had the chance.

Same with me.
I could have done it over California's Napa Valley many years ago,
but weather and other conditions conspired against me at the time.
I've not had a similar opportunity since.

20-30 years ago I used to see an occasional balloon fly near my home but I have not seen any balloons really since then. Even then it was maybe 3 or 4 balloons per summer. Not very many at all.

The Canowindra festival is a solid 5 hour drive from home but we make a camping weekend of it. Not everyones cup of tea but well worth the effort and time.
It is also a leg of the world ballooning series. I hope you guys can get the opportunities to view and ride. It is bucket list stuff.
Cheers
Rossco

I used to ride/drive across the Michigan state from Grand Rapids to Detroit-area suburbs, seeing the balloons sometimes
during summertime. It wasn't until fairly recently that I understood what it was about.
Occasionally it was one or two balloons; other times it was dozens.
I was always mesmerized by the spectacle of it, as it's something you don't witness often.

It's worth a closer look if you can get up close to the action of launch/landing.

I've been there once Charles, and I'm dying to go back.
It's an amazing experience, even if you're just standing on the ground.
