a gripped a9, for me...is actually perfect. I really like everything about it. I like the extra knob on the top right that none of the others have, the Exposure Comp dial is just right, the AFON for BBF is right where I want it...when I go back to handholding the r2 I miss the a9 a lot.

Renting an a73 for a friend while he is here for Petit LeMans in a couple weeks...I am going to use it a bit too to see how I like it. I think it might be better for indoor sports since the FPS is higher in mechanical shutter...our gym has the worst, I mean worst lights...and the electronic shutter really struggles with banding. It means a lot of extra post work to minimize it. And even then I can't get rid of it. Mechanical shutter did a little better.

Turned out well for what you had to work with. Good luck convincing they need to buy lighting. Maybe they just need a new gym.

I'm going under the assumption that a Sony sensor was used in my buddy's smartphone that he used to take this photo. :p

I bought my car on Oct 31, 2014, and today, it just rolled over the 12,000 mile reading on the odometer.

One more payment and it's mine too. :-D

That's not much mileage!! I don't do a great deal really - I think I'm covered for about 6-7,000 a year. I'm lucky really that my work, the main supermarket we use, my mum's, my kids, Beccy's mum, my dad's & the lock up are all with a 2.5 mile radius of home!

I actually had to MOT the old Escort today - 271 miles in the past year!!

When I worked, I always drove a fairly long distance to and from my work. When I worked for the County for example, I drove 32 miles each way, every day. And, I've driven much farther on a daily basis too.

I'm so glad I don't have to work anymore.

I presently scheming to do a exploratory 4-month trip to La Paz (or Loreto) Baja (2nd quarter 2020) and I’m scared to think what that’s going to do to our 2020 mileage.

If we’re serious about moving to such a place - and we are - it behooves us to go there and spend significant time there first. Hate thinking about that looooong drive and all the wear and tear.

Havy you ever been there before David? I agree that would be of high importance to see if the area was compatible with your family's lifestyle before committing to such a life changing decision.

I drive for my work and put 15-20k a year on.

I've worked where I put 35k miles per year on my car. I was working five 10 hr days and one 8 hr day per week. The drive was an hour each way so that didn't leave me much time for anything else. It was a great opportunity for me to catch up on some bills to be sure.

Dang it I just bought the Tamron 17-28 Hope I like it.

I am Sony Pro evaluating the 24 1.4 GM on my trip and they are sending it early.

Also I'll get pics up this weekend but my A7r2 is back from getting cleaned and will let it go for $825

I'm looking at used lenses and stumbled across a site called MPB.com. I've never heard of them but their prices seem decent on a couple of lenses. Has anyone done business with them or heard anything good or bad about them? Thanks in advance.

Never set foot anywhere in Mexico before! Been doing loads of research for months now...learning as best I can.

My main concern right now is if we’re really willing to stay in such a hot place. Just spending a week or two’s not going to cut it for getting a real sense of what life is like longterm. That’s why I want to spend a few months there to get a true sense.

The big disadvantage for us with Baja is we’d be stuck there whereas if we picked the mainland we could travel and see lots of amazing cities. So that’s really far more practical for us. We’re presently making up our minds because we need (I think?) to get a suitable rental place(s) reserved. :)

Crap to you is gold to me. I love the full size bodies and the latest improvements are outstanding. Just told my doctor (who
bought my a99ii and is looking at my a7Riii) that I don't like Nikon DSLRs at all, but love their lenses. I suppose all of us
have likes and dislikes.

That rubbery material on the a7R II’s handgrip came off my memory card door 2 years ago. Poorly made garbage imo. The handling and ergonomics of my last Canon camera (5DS R) is my gold standard for sheer shooting pleasure. Basically for me the touch/feel/operation aspect is all-Canon, but the image quality (IBIS, sensor, etc.) is all Sony.

Very nice - wonderful with the reflection! :)

Wow. We put 12k miles a year on each of our cars before my wife started working from home. Now we put 12k on one car lol.

The reason I've pumped the breaks on the gear is that we're actually in the market for a new car. Wife wants a van. Hard no from me so I'm in the market for a full sized SUV. Probably going our first time buying an American car.
