And suddenly I’m a pro tog, canon representative, and expert in the photographic arts.

First day out with new rig, one guy drives by and says is that for the newspaper, and two people at the park pick my brain at length regarding nature photography.

With my T3i and El Cheapo 75-300 III zoom lens no one ever said a word to me...

The real pros are still pointing and laughing at your canon branded strap.

;)

I see a surprising amount of pros with the branded straps the come out of the box and a few with CPS straps.

Given the fact that Canon supports professional photographers with much stuff (vans full) that is 'on loan' for professionals to use while at special events (major sporting activities, for example) it would not be at all surprising for gear to be sporting what enthusiasts often perceive as 'amateurish' branded straps!

Not only is it branded Canon but it says 90D. Nothing says I just went from 18 to 32.5 Megapixels more than that does. Plus the mottled rubber texture grips the sweatiest of necks. It’s a real upgrade to my previous neck strap which said Rebel.

OTOH, usually no one -- except someone who recently decided which camera to buy -- knows the pixel counts, or how recent EOS xyzD is in the family tree!
 :p

It's the big white lens and its front diameter and overall length which is the primary attractant. :-) And the fact that your current camera is 'bigger', and not one of the 'smaller models' says something about how much money you spent.

Technically I'm a pro and just received (in the digital age) my first non-canon branded strap a couple of weeks ago. 6D strap is dirty and the rubberized side is all bubbled up. It hasn't been in use for almost two years. That was when I went with a peak design hand strap. I kinda like holding the camera with it, kinda. But I do like having the camera on a tripod with it, which is where i find my camera often.

So then I got the strap. It came with more anchors. And I got to playing with the regular manfrotto plate (sideways on the bottom of 70-200), peak design dual plate (bottom of camera), and camera lugs. Never thought I would have that stuff hanging off my camera, but it is worth it so far.

Anyway, heading over to the listening thread.
