The Faeroe Islands, the village of Gjogv. A deep canyon provided shelter to the fishermen way back when. Now there are no fishermen left, and the houses are mainly for recreational purposes.

The Faeroe Islands are made of volcanic lava and ashes, layer upon layer. We can clearly see it on this picture.
