All wonderful shots but I am drawn to the first two. You need to step outside your comfort zone more often.

Rod

Well I’m late to the party per usual, but I agree with Rod ! WOW!

Wish we were closer. I’d be begging for processing lessons :)

Really nice.

FYI, Canon released firmware v1.1.7 a week ago.
It's only for security reasons tho, they didn't gave us more touchscreen support  (I wish we had more use of the touchscreen, like 5D4).

Chris, do you know what it includes? I'm still on 1.1.3 I believe! BTW do you get notifications when updates are available? This is the first I've heard of it.

Annie,

Sometimes Canon Rumors posts small notices about such updates, and I''m sure that other sites or blogs do as well.

The link below is for the specific firmware update from Canon Europe, and it also furnishes a history of past updates:

Thanks, Mark. I'll check it out tomorrow. I might just take better photos with the update  I wonder why we don't get automatic email notifications (CPS members anyway, as they have our email addresses).. I have Profoto gear and they always send out notifications of FW updates.

Curious what is No 22?
Odd design
Blunt front end, streamlined rear.

Derek, it's quite simple to do the update. You just go to the link above (provided in Mark A's post), download the file appropriate for you (Windows or Mac) and then just follow the instructions. You need to have a fresh battery and a formatted card with a card reader - that's it. Post questions if you have any and good luck.

Or you can plug the camera to your pc, start EOS utility 3 and update from the software directly.
A charged battery is required in both case, indeed.

What EOS Utility does is putting the firmware file on the card for you. After that, the procedure is the same as if you had put the firmware file on the card yourself.

Canon USA placed a how-to video of the process for revising one of their camera’s firmware, on YouTube.

The video was published in January of 2016 and features an EOS 5D Mk II, but I bet that the information presented in the video is universal.
The 5-minute long video is clearly and calmly narrated, and depicts updating the firmware using a CF card reader, and how to do it without a CF card reader.

The video is titled "Canon: Updating Firmware” should you wish to search for it, instead of using its direct link below.
