New windmills at Krammersluizen, the Netherlands. I think it's a bit of skyline destruction.

Gross skyline destruction indeed! Exploit the power of the tides is what I say. Or perhaps a few small nuclear power stations, maybe?
But don’t worry Lyn, Adobe had the solution in mind when they developed Photoshop :-D
I am always Photoshopping wind turbines out of pics - although for this pic the turbines are the subject of your pic:-)

That is cool that there are still a few old windmills still standing around.

I am guessing there used to be a farm house or cabin nearby, would that be correct?

Or is there still a farm house or cabin still standing near the old windmill?

Thank you for sharing!

This was on the side of a road about 4 miles from my house. There was a dirt road that T-boned into the asphalt road that lead to who knows where. I didn't see any other buildings about, but that is not unusual for our area. Everyone has a good size chunk of land around here. I just moved to the area recently and spotted the windmill yesterday but didn't have my camera with me, so I went back today. It seemed to be in working order.

I will go back soon and explore some more and see what I can find out, and maybe come upon another photo opportunity. I'll report back if anything interesting comes about.

Jack

^ I was wondering when someone would post photos of the Fabyan Park windmill and the other conventional old windmills from Batavia along the Fox River to this thread. I have some of those somewhere, but they're old. I need to get over there on a good day again sometime soon.

After nosing around a little further, there are buildings on the property, a good distance from the windmill.

There were some cattle grazing about 50 yards away from the windmill today.

Sometimes after wind, neglect, and time has taken its toll on one, they still serve a wonderful purpose.
Ferruginous hawk family. Adult has just returned to nest with Western Kingbird chasing.
