I was curious to this myself, so I looked it up on the net and found more than one definition.

https://www.thefreedictionary.com/Minimalist+art (external link)

From one of those definitions, for minimalism: "A school of abstract painting and sculpture . . ." The word "abstract" disqualifies Eidelweiss's rings–gosh, I knew what they were right away–and most everything else in these 75 pages.

I'm not a scholar of art, I just have my own ideas about how plain and simple a work has to be to fit the category. It'd be no surprise if experts differed on just what counts as minimal.

Probably doesn't qualify, but...

Past weekend, I spent some time reading on minimalist photography. There seems to be a rather wide interpretation of it. But here on POTN, the thread is under "Nature & Landscapes." So I have tried not to post any minimalistic photos if they were not somehow related to nature. With that said, here is one that might fit a minimalist definition, even though I don't consider it nature related.

I agree with your post and photo. The interpretation I got from one definition said, that nothing else should distract from the subject.

Sibil, this thread would fit better in Still Life, B/W & Experimental. I post my urban "minimals" here and ignore its Nature & Landscapes location.
