And for what reasons please?
I want to buy the 105mm too but I'm not 100% sure... It's heavy and more expensive than the 135mm. In other hand... I prefer the 105mm focal, plus it's sharper and the AF is better right? I want to cover some street events too. And I will do mostly portraits, so the bokeh with the 105mm will be better.

Guess I never got back to the thread, but have an answer. I'm still pondering this lens.

I love the 135mm but always felt I had to get back too far. When I shoot the 70-200mm 2.8 the look at f/2.8 is pretty darn good if I need a long focal length. And that lens is as heavy as Sigma's 105mm. But I don't often use the long zoom.

So I figured I'd sell one of my 85mm and maybe get the 105mm. It would be like my 70-200mm. Something I don't carry often on the camera, but keep on-site for various times when I want a special look.

But I won't forget how much I enjoyed the Canon 135mm and it's still stuck in my head. Even if the Sigma 135mm is sharper, the rendering of the Canon still seems as good and the weight is fairly light.

QUOTED IMAGE

My first shot using this lens on my Sony A7III (15 minutes after delivery) using a tripod
and remote trigger. Wow!! I have never had an f1.4 lens that was so sharp @1.4.

The Youtube reviewere Christopher Frost demonstrated this 105mm is soft in the corners at f/1.4 but for portraits that barely matters since that part usually falls out into the area of bokeh.

I'm still eyeing this lens a year after it's release and plan on buying it at the end of the month, but i'm wondering if any of you guys tried a 2x third party extender on it to get 210mm ? if so i would be happy to see some results. Also if any of you shot with Canon EOS R and had some feedback on how it performs on it.

This is such a fun lens to shoot anything and everything with, it's about to become my walkaround lens. :)

I got to shoot some skateboarding today with the 105. Can't say it focused slow because it had no problem keeping track of the action during this session.

Sometimes the f/1.4 aperture is a downside, the tiny little focal plane makes it challenging to set the focus correctly in poorly lit situations. But the result is funny! :)

I got to shoot some football practice today and it was a lot of fun with the 105, although it's a short lens it produced some quite unique looking sport photos. :)
