My new (to me) 24-70 II is coming tomorrow. Just in time for a weekend trip. Pretty excited to be able to take 2 cameras and all the lenses can be used on both (EOS R and EOS M6 II with adapters). Takes me back to my 7D/5D2 days.

Took the 85L 1.4 out for some fall colors over the weekend. Just a fun lens for just about anything.

So I was going through a few BIF. Got lots of shots but it was just too far away. The R tracked it without any issues. 400 DO and 2X. Cropped from bottom. I couldn't push it anymore. Still not usable and I was a little shaky.

I picked up the battery grip. I like the feel much better, more like the 1dxII. So it was raining a bit but I went out for some test shots. Sorry only Cardinals were around with the rain and wind.

Wonderful shot, Rob.

Despite all the reports that the R doesn't do well for birds, you seem to be doing just fine with it!

Thank you. I am actually liking this camera better than I thought I would. If they step up the tracking for BIF, it would be a wonderful camera. It still works for flight but it could be better. For static shots, it is very good. The files easily match the 1dx II. The extra MP's do not hurt either. The crop mode works amazingly well. Much better than just cropping in on the file. I only have used the pro size cameras so if felt small but I added the grip and it feels great now.
