I've got my pre-order in (great deal via Cpricewatch.com), hopefully I will have it hand before the end of the month so I figured I would start a sample photo thread in anticipation!

A week later than I had hoped for, but it’s finally here!

Now I just need the rain to go away so I can get it outside and a real estate job to see if it will really replace my 11-24mm F4L

You made me scratch my itch. Stopped by our only local camera store that had 1 in stock. I'll just say this as first impressions...it's massive! I'm coming from an EF 35mm f/1.4L USM version 1. It is a beast of a lens but just seeing the front glass makes it worth a little more weight and size. I'll try to get some pictures up soon as well (raining here too).

A littler wider, a little longer, a little heavier than the RF 24-105mm f/4L.

Yes it is big compared to the 35mm, but I was actually impressed that is as compact as it is given the range and f/2.8. I’ve had to control myself waiting as I was ready to order the Tamron 15-30mm f/2.8 G2 more than once. The RF is svelte compared to that monster. Comparing it against other lens in the same focal length and build range along with the EF 16-35mm f/4L and EF 11-24mm f/4L and I think it fairs ok.

Compared among counterparts:
Lens...............WT...........Length..........Dia
RF 15-35mm f/2.8L. 840g. 127mm. 89mm
EF 16-35mm f/2.8 III. 790g. 128mm 89mm
Tamron 15-30mm f/2.8 1110g. 145mm. 98mm

EF 16-35mm f/4L. 615g. 113mm. 83mm
EF 11-24mm f/4L 1180g 132mm 108mm

And a visual comparison EF 16-35mm f/2.8L / RF 15-35mm f/2.8L / EF 16-35mm f/4L

This one is a pretty tight crop, about 25% of the frame...

Quickie star shot the other morning with the RF 15-35mm. Orion constellation.

Taken at 35mm, wouldn’t expect any coma at full “zoom”, but so far very pleased with the potential of this lens for Astro work. Might be awhile before I have a clear sky to check it at 15mm, keeping my hopes up though.

Using manual focus and focus peaking made it SUPER easy to get the focus set on the main stars. MUCH easier than my previous Astro attempts with a 6D and Rokinon 14mm

I selected EF 11-24mm lens in EXIF so I could put in gallery...

It would be really nice if we could add it to our gear list! Having said that...it would be even better if I could add it to my products registered on Canon's website. Tried to register it for the warranty today and it's not available to select yet.

I made a request in the “Add to Gear List” thread...
