That's a lovely shot of an impressive aircraft Pagman and for any who don't know the detail of her have a gander at this

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avro_Lancaster_PA474 (external link)

I worked on the successor of the 'Lank', the 'Shack' or 40,000 thousand rivets in close formation. More commonly known as the Avro Sackelton. That too was a real workhorse. Mine were at R.A.F. Changi, 205 Sqdn Mk2 Phase 2 tail draggers.

My ambition for a good while is to grow old disgracefully. So far my wife tells me that I am doing really well!

It’s great how they change the nose art on PA-474. I’m not sure how often they do it but this is from the Farnborough Airshow in 2006.

My late farther used to work on them as an ERK - he also worked on Shorties, Wellies, Mosquitos, Spits and Hurricanes as an Airframes and engines fitter.

First one is fantastic!
Which lens was used?

When you see my camera gear you'll think I'm a pro.

Thank you! Nikkor 200-500. For those of you that shoot the D850 and the 200-500, even on my D500, using Center weighted metering on Aperture priority, I'm still having to use about 2/3 to a stop of overexposure to come out correct, and the subject is still dark to an extent. Anybody else have that issue? Also for those that have shot the F22 Raptor, any tips on focusing, today was horrible, didn't have a problem focusing on anything till that.

Try keeping your focus point to center one only (its the most accurate) I also use Focus priority as I dont shoot in bursts, tracking Off as it slows down the focus regaining its lock.
I also tend to use spot metering as I find it more pin-point.

And shutter speeds I have been told VR Off unless using Sport mode and abover 1/1000sec.

Oh and try to keep your Aperture over f8 to give you some depth of focus other wise at your lens length eqv to 35mm, you could find part of the raptor in sharp focus and the rest slightly less, but dont go too far due to difraction I would say f9 Max.
