What focal length?
I am thinking a tracker was used?
How long of an exposure?

A couple of different Moon shots. On the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina at sunset. We were out to shoot the Milky Way, but got there early enough for sunset.

Hi Shaun... if you were asking to me? I did not use any extra magnification with the C8 so the focal length was 2000mm. Yes my mount, the iOptron AZ Mount Pro is a tracking mount. My exposure during the 1700 frame 2 minute clip was 10ms (1/100s).

This was the setup while shooting a clip - and you can see the view being captured on the laptop below. To get the whole moon with the C8 I need to shoot between 5 and 6 panels.

Cheers!!

Mike

Hey Steve. Good effort! I assume you are using a tripod? If you are, I would suggest you drop your ISO to 50 or 100 and a shutter speed of 1/50 or 1/100s or so. F9 is fine. You will get a cleaner image. ;)

Thanks. The POTN gear database doesn't list it yet but the camera I used was my new Sony a7r4.

Well... its looking like I MIGHT get a window for the moon this evening. Be the first time in a while.

Being moonless for a while, I have been going back over my meager number of sessions I have managed with my C8 looking for anything worth redoing. Found one view which is rather nice I think. From October 22 - 39 % waning. Cropped a fair bit and reduced in size 50% Was supposed to be a panel of a mosaic - but it was a no go this night.
