I am not a fan of this forced shift of 'software sevices' into the cloud. Especially if there is no real added benefit and if it just smells like a big money grab. And in this respect, Adobe is probably the worst of the bunch. Not just forcing everybody, but also behaving poorly - giving ample of reasons to mistrust this cloud stuff:
If they don't like you then they simply turn off the 'service': https://www.theverge.com …shop-behance-us-sanctions
. Now politics decide, if you can use software or not. POLITICS! The only reliability you get there is its reliable inconsistency. Who's next in this random theater. (I know, this is only relevant for us non-Americans....)
Additionally, they don't even get their core business properly under control: https://threatpost.com …s-exposed-hackers/149563/
. Not a big deal - but does not instill the confidence that Adobe cares too much about privacy and protecting their clients from harm.
And now they are also forcing me to rent Acrobat as a cloud subscription! WHY? There is absolutely no *beeping* reason why Acrobat has to have anything to do with the cloud or why it should have any sorts of access to the internet.
I am quite peeved that I don't have the time to research how to restructure my workflow for pdfs right now - but Adobe is definitely on my 'not cool' list of things to avoid. Anybody has an alternative mature pdf workflow solution that covers similar functionality such as Acrobat? (edit, OCR, ...). Sometimes feel like the red queen - having to adopt my software as fast as I can just to keep the same functionality running. I can not be the only one out there, am I?
