Possibly stupid question..... on the R ,... in the menu I dedicated the mode switch to Tv.. the front dial to Av... the lens ring to exposure comp... how the heck do I change iso now????

What J. Crossley said. I have the buttons set the same as you do, I use that M-Fn button to change the ISO setting - click it and it activates the dial you have set to aperture over to ISO for a few seconds. I also toggle that button over to the Drive mode if I'm on a tripod and want to use the timer. I did use the multi function bar for ISO initially, and it's very convenient, but also just a bit too easy for me to hit and I'd look at my settings and find the ISO at 2000 instead of where I'd set it at 200 or 320.

I updated the firmware for the battery grip with no issues. I also updated the firmware on the 400mm f2.8 Mk III without issue. The EOS R was listed as one of the models for the firmware.

Here are a couple from this morning

Those of you with a gripped camera, what bag are you using? I was using a small Amazon basics backpack for two bodies and a couple lenses, which was a good set up for me, but adding grips to the cameras and they don't fit any more, at least in a way that's comfortable to use...

I have always used PRO bodies, so all my bags fit gripped bodies too. I use Gura Gear bataflae 32, F-stop Ajna with Ex Lg ICU unit, F-stop Satori with same ICU and pelican hard case 1510 fits the gripped body too which I use a lot for carry on.

Anyone else find the shutter sound sort of “crunchy” compared to other cameras? I’ve owned 5 Canon DSLRs (2 cropped and 3 full frame) and 4 Olympus mirrorless cameras and none had this sound. I’m sure I’ll get used to it, but so far it doesn’t have the satisfying click sound I was hoping to hear. I tried it on the quiet mode and wasn’t much better...but I don’t like using silent mode as folks are normally confused when taking their picture and they don’t hear the shutter.

Tried a little night shooting with the R last night. Too soon to tell how it stacks up against my old 6D for this type of photography?

For some reason when I download my to photos on my Mac the ISO is n/a.

Hah, use the 1dx Mark II then you will think it is very quite  I actually like the sound vs the 1dx bodies, I tried the 90D briefly and prefer the sound from the R.

Not particularly.

Would you say it's more like Pringles, Ruffles, or Doritos?

It's nice because I can stand up the 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II lens in it. Another reason I don't really 'need' the new RF 70=200mm telescoping lens.

I think you'll find it's quite a step up from the 6D for astrophotography. I really should sell my 6D, I've not felt any inclination to use it since getting the R.

Same goes for my 7Dii really but there are situations where the 7Dii is better. However, I find myself trying to get the shot with the R instead...some day frustration will get the better of me and I'll revert to the 7Dii (if I can remember how to use it lol)

Taken with the Canon FD 300mm f/4 and EOS R. I think @ f/5.6. I also had the RF 50mm 1.2 with me, but wanted to experiment with this FD 300mm and the Zeiss 135mm ZE I got a couple months ago. I used the 135mm with the 5DS and the FD 300mm on the EOS R. Also had one umbrella and speedlite for this. We drove to the nearby Jacksonville, Oregon, an old gold mining town.
