Got out to Lake Lanier at War Hill Park for sunrise over the weekend. It is becoming quite popular it seems, several people out there doing the same thing I was.

Congrats Travis, beautiful image. I'm glad the trip worked out, I was a little concerned when I read you were going up this past weekend regarding there being any color left.

Also, glad one of us got up there for fall!

Thanks John! Yeah, two weeks ago the color was much better during that trip...this time the color was all but gone...spotty in a few areas. But it actually made for interesting images since the color stood out.

This is a stunning photo! The composition is compelling and mood is just right. Congratulations!

I do feel, though, the blue/aqua in the water is a little strong. Did you intentionally tune it that way?

Thanks for the kind words.

The blue in the water wasn't something I intentionally added but there it was and I wasn't motivated enough to remove it :D

Shadow blues....some like it some don’t. It can be removed with local temp adjustments but to some extent it is what happens when you look into shadows. On the rare times I adjust it out it can be very easy to overdo it then the whole images doesn’t look as natural as it should imo.

Very nice image.

Thanks!

I frequently "cool" down the foreground in my shots when the subject of the image is "warm", like in this image. It helps to provide a transition (cool to warm), which along with other transitions like dark to bright, high contrast to low contrast, etc, all act to help guide the eye through the frame to the subject. I actually didn't cool the FG in this shot but there was some blue in the highlights that crept in that I do agree could be tamed a bit, I just didn't feel super motivated. I would normally use a selective color layer and then target the cyans/blues.
