Constable with Felon. Felon would most likely get the one-way ticket to Oz in those days.:-)

See they shouldn't have rewarded felons like that. Look what a wonderful place their descendants inherited.

I knew if I baited the hook you and/or Richard would respond:lol::lol:
You are probably correct, but I will not be drawn on political issues or I could write a few pages.:-)

Rochester Sweeps Festival. Kent UK
The main theme of this particular festival is to portray Dickensian chimney sweeps, hence they are covered in soot.
This group of Morris Dancers is waiting to start their performance.

Great photo Ray, but I've heard that blackface is no longer PC. (bit of kangaroo meat on a shiny dangling hook for you). :)

There are many answers to question.

Ha! Ha! Ha! That is why I put on my earlier post - and - I stated categorically, that I would not be drawn on political issues - or I could say a lot!
You win that round:-) However, I have heard the organisers are having to think about future acts.:-(
Has all the fun and innocence gone out of life? The violence, abuse and swearing you get on the telly makes me cringe in disgust at what the very young are exposed to.

It certainly is a very colourful and very crowded festival.
But I think they must be clandestinely using banned weed and bug killers. -?

The Old Lamplighter from long, long ago.
Rochester Street Festival. Kent UK
An entertaining act as he plays his flute, tells stories and clowns around on his ladder.:-)
I couldn't find the stills for these, they are screen grabs from the video clip I took.
