It was a cold day in Inverness and the sun was setting as the game started. Since we have floodlights we can still ko at 3pm. The lights are qualified for rugby but not for photography. Ended up shooting at ISO 6400 and the images were under exposed by about 2 stops, even at F2.8.

Anyway, a littel arty short from the start.

so the grandson hit the under 10s like the fist of an angry god this morning and decided that he didn't want to play football (soccer) anymore as it was "for softies". no idea where he gets it from, honestly. :p

some days all you can do is max out the iso and the lens, set a random shutter speed that prolly is too slow, go straight to b+w and hope for the best...

Great efforts given the conditions. I didn’t bother, the players couldn’t see the ball, the coach couldn’t see the players. It was raining and we lost. Did I mention the mud? lol

I miss the mud. We have 3G pitch. Means washing for strips is easier but you keep finding the little black bales all over the house.

the real problem with a 4g pitch, for me, is that someone has usually put a few lights around it and proceeds to try and convince you that "they are world class and you'll have no problem shooting under them".
they aren't and we do.

The only game to be held in the Scottish National 1 League yesterday .. and we are the furthest north too. The U18's played first on a pure white pitch but 4G meant it was still nice and soft. The seniors had it easy !!

Tried some different shots than usual.

More of the same from me I'm afraid. Under 10s Vs Guisboro to and the boy goes from strength to strength. Starting to show a bit of spatial awareness too, but leaving it a bit too late to cut back inside on this occasion.
