Hi Stiga - I did realise you were not criticising Mr PCousins. His work, among others on the bird portrait thread is to be envied. But I think it is primarily about the location where the birds are (like the less inhabited parts of the UK, USofA, Down Under and Asia etc) :) and of course your own drive and ambitions, not to mention the equipment available helps a bit.:-) I live in a relatively poor area for birds and would love to get my hands on some new must-have technology - but this part of the globe is getting more lawless by the day and I'd hate to relieved of it to buy a fix of drugs for someone out in the community who should've been banged-up years ago - but you never know!
Anyway I always see some excellent work with lesser equipment - your own gallery has some nice images for instance.
Regards

Many thanks for your big compliment, Ray.

So, you live in N Kent - which you say is not the best place for birds. I would have thought that waders would have not been too far away. If you want to try new pastures, take a holiday in western Scotland - the islands are a birders paradise.

I have some catching up to do. Whooping crane eating wolfberry, a mainstay of it's diet. On the Aransas NWR on the Texas coast.

Excellent shots, Paul. This hen mallard is much lighter in color, and has more white on her than ours here in the states. They can sure vary in different parts of the world.
