I wish I could take credit for this concept. I got the idea from an image I saw on Google images; the watermark says MaX Smiles Photographer so I give full credit to whoever shot the original image. However, I did put five hours and actual blood, sweat, and literal tears into this shot and was just about to quit when I made one last desperate attempt, an actual hail Mary, to get the water to pop neon blue like this. I've hiked over 11 miles to get a shot, gotten up at 2:30 am to shoot a sunrise in the bitter cold, driven 3 hours each way and stood on my SUV's luggage rack with my tripod just to have 20 minutes to shoot a field of sunflowers before I had to turn around and head back home, hiked the Chihuahuan Desert along the Mexican border with dog pear cactus needles stuck in my leg, and yet sadly THIS is the most frustrating and challenging shot I've ever taken. I have no idea how the original photographer accomplished their shot, I only know that I worked my butt off to achieve the same basic effect.

Nope, colours weren't edited. I don't know for sure but would guess the designer chose the paint specifically to match the stunning colour of the bird's eyes.
