Fantastic creature . I looked that up. Official small mammal of Texas
Beautiful. They'd be fascinating to watch I'd imagine.

Neat shot, cleverly photographed Richard. Like Pippan, I too thought it was a "shoulder skink.";-)a :p

Thanks Mike. Hands and legs okay, shoulders out of bounds :p

If your household skinks are that small, how do you avoid stepping on them?

OhLook I'm not sure you could if you tried.
Whilst very friendly they are very flighty and extremely fleet of foot.
Their short bursts of speed is phenomenal and to watch them catch something is entertaining.

Nice animal, what bread, Yersey? Different from our HF black&white ones. We also have names for the younger ones, first it's a pink and than becomes a vaars.

Yes a Jersey. And they are beautiful animals plus very placid, but at that age inquisitive like nothing I've known
Once cream was the needed supply - or high butterfat, then whole milk supply took over and they wanted copious quantities and weren't much interested in butterfat content.
Jersey milk as you no doubt know is rich in BF and the best cream was what came to the surface in the vat ... I won't bore with those stories but those were the days :-)
Interesting names for the younger ones

Those Robins! I was raised on storeys with them having English parents. Always admired them.
