No - they are very destructive of local wildlife, so no cats in our household.:-)

Cheers

On the forest floor, digging in the leaves. It was a hard target to get in the thick vegetation. Managed a couple of high ISO shots.

Very nice, especially with such a high ISO, Rob.

Hi. This is my first post to the forum, having just discovered it.

The following is a New Zealand native Tui, obviously not too impressed by being interrupted...

Gory details:
Canon EOS 60D, EF28-300L @210mm, f6.3, 1/100sec, ISO-200 hand-held.
Taken on the open island sanctuary of Tiritiri Matangi, in Auckland's Hauraki Gulf. Once farmed, this island was regenerated with native bush and is now the home to many unique and endangered species. The Tui is not endangered, in fact it monsters other birds in November and December throughout the breeding season. The Tui has a beautiful melodic call, and uses it throughout the day and night. Its feathers change colour with the angle of the light.

Welcome to the forums, Tronhard. This is an excellent shot of a very pretty bird! It's quite nice to hear that this island of Tiritir Matangi has come back, and is again home to so many species. I love to hear stories like this.

Looking forward to seeing more of your photos.

Cheers,

Mike

Thanks for your welcome Mike. I am looking forward to engaging with the forum. :-)

This is another shot that I took while living in Canada. it's a Peregrin Owl, but frankly it looks a bit like a cute toy!

Details: Canon EOS80D, Canon EF 70-300L 4-5.6 @234mm, f/5, 1/15sec, ISO-200, hand-held. I can't seem to find this lens in the gear list and it keeps reverting to another lens but my description is correct.

This little chappie was at a raptor sanctuary in Duncan, BC, Canada.
