Hi. This is my first post to the forum, having just discovered it.

The following is a New Zealand native Tui, obviously not too impressed by being interrupted...

Gory details:
Canon EOS 60D, EF28-300L @210mm, f6.3, 1/100sec, ISO-200 hand-held.
Taken on the open island sanctuary of Tiritiri Matangi, in Auckland's Hauraki Gulf. Once farmed, this island was regenerated with native bush and is now the home to many unique and endangered species. The Tui is not endangered, in fact it monsters other birds in November and December throughout the breeding season. The Tui has a beautiful melodic call, and uses it throughout the day and night. Its feathers change colour with the angle of the light.

This is one of my favourite photos. Taken in Victoria, BC, Canada at the Beacon Hill Park that was only a few hundred metres from my apartment. At the time I was seriously ill - I had contracted pneumonia and from the lack of mobility developed a cardio-pulmonary embolism that nearly killed me.

At the time I had been virtually immobile for almost 12 weeks, and in desperation to get out I dragged myself to the park and sat to watch the Peacocks do their displays. I rarely move without a camera and on this occasion I had a Canon EOS 60D, with the EF 70-300L lens attached. Despite quite contrasty conditions I was able to get it with the light behind and filtered through its feathers.

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

While at the kitchen table, looked out and thought my fathers cat got out before I realized wasn't his cat. grabbed my camera and ran out. Found him down a couple houses. then hoping I had the iso high enough for dusk.

This little chappie was at a raptor sanctuary in Duncan, BC, Canada.

I like the close up! It's a great look and you can see the birds
attention is focused on what you are doing.

Very up close and personable, IMO!
