It's a real shame Canon didn't incorporate more of ML into their later cameras. I'd love to have been a fly on the wall in some of Canon's meetings, it must have driven the marketing
team (and the engineers) nuts.

I used auto bracketing to overcome the muddy shadows. The R fixed that!
I used the dot-tune function for MFA. The R fixed that!
Built in auto focus stacking would be great to have in the R but the RP got it instead.

Quite, the R fixed lots of things. Hell, even the 7Dii fixed a fair few.

I really liked the Raw histogram and the info graphic that popped up telling you how many stops of headroom were remaining. No need for that any more

The lack of focus stacking is a real shame.

I can't believe the R hasn't had focus stacking added in a FW update already. Seems to be a no-brainer. Canon is always doing things (or not) just to crap on its users. For the life of me as a business person. I simply don't get it. I guess it's because they can, but that too will end one day.

The lack of focus stacking is a real shame.

Forgot about the RAW histogram. Based on the RAW rather than the JPG with picture style applied. So much usable information in such a small unobtrusive space. All manufactures should offer that.

It has been an awful long time since I posted but as I did eventually take the plunge in buying the R I figured I would take part Took me a while as I was so happy with the 5D4 but as the year wore on I really needed a camera which could shoot silently to avoid spooking the raptors (European raptors in a non-commercial hide setup are shy, really shy, especially goshawks). So the silent shutter, all be it for the more stationary shots, helps the birds to get confident as shutter noise and a moving lens sticking out of the hide would mostly scare them within seconds. So that feature trumps all the downsides, which are plentiful

However I do find the highlights blow really quickly and wonder if anyone has any knowledge of DR limitations using silent shutter? Not had time to test against the 5D4 or standard shutter.

It may be dropping from 14 bit to 12 bit. I couldn't find confirmation on the R, but I believe the M series does.

That' just about the weirdest thing I've read about a Canon camera in days!

I just got my 35 1.8. Very sharp lens but certainly a lot noisier than my other EF lenses but I can see this combo getting a lot of use. I always wanted a Fuji X100 but this set up was just a bit more expensive but a lot more versatile considering what I already own.

I'm also loving that new FV mode.
