A Chevy V-8? Is it a Piper PA-36? I used to work on them. Installed spray systems and even used the chemical tank for fuel on a long ferry flight.

It is a Chev LS3 conversion into a Pawnee. As a glider pilot it was an amazing tow, it has so much performance off the runway. Huge cost advantage come replacement/rebuild and much more economical to operate. The nose profile & the radiators are the only visual difference but the noise is amazing, best sounding tug I've ever been behind! IMAGE LINK: https://flic.kr/p/2hDvWdoPhil Cupra

I used to work at the Lycoming plant that built the original 0-540. They have nearly priced themselves out of business. And, I used to joke that the only guy that never got laid off from Piper was the one who raised prices.

and you are paying very high prices for old tech, the LS3 conversion seems to make a lot of sense from a cost pov but there are still a few bugs to sort. Considering some of the ADs on the pawnee now it could revitalise the fleet into the future. Cupra
