First off, thank you for your service! No, I was not in the military. My friend Tom's wife's best friend's husband was stationed there, I can't remember their names though. He was able to get us on base early in the morning (he lived in base housing) to beat the crowd, and went back to his apartment after the show. Went to a few airshows there, it was always an amazing place to see. Tom's family has a cabin on the other side of Van Etten Lake off of US-23 and we were up there quite often. Used to ride our snowmobiles alongside the base to get to the trails to the north and west of the base. Seeing all the aircraft lined up was an amazing sight. Michael
