My house backs onto the Old town Quarry. There is a tearoom there. If you are interested here is their Website. http://www.oldtownquarry.co.uk/id15.html It’s a fabulous place for Nature and of course you can get a nice cup of tea there. They make also the most amazing Carrot Cake, Walnut cake and Cheese Cake. None of which is good for the waist line because portions are very generous. You can sit outside and enjoy the scenery and watch what goes by. Most importantly there is a pair of Peregrine falcons there. I have been watching these Peregrines for 4 years now. The female is an old girl who’s long time partner just flew off 2 years ago and never came back. A Juvenile Male shortly turned up and they paired off. Unfortunately he is a lazy bugger and often steals her catch rather than catch his own. Last year it was hoped they would have young but they were plagued by Jackdaws and a pair of ravens that it was believed took her eggs. He did not do much to protect the nest or feed his partner so the nest got left and of course raided. So hoping for them to start a family and be successful this year. These photo’s were taken today of the female around 3pm. He likes to spend most of his time during the day on the old Pier not far away. It’s a great little place and they are protected there. They are very high up and their area is fenced off and surrounded by brambles. They like to eat pigeon’s. I have seen spectacular moments where they leave their ledges and chase and dive onto a pigeon and sometimes the pigeons are so large they struggle to carry them high up to their favourite ledges. They would go to a lower ledge and you would see them panting trying to catch their breath before they attempt to get to their favourite ledges. Interesting. I wish we had more Peregrine falcons but there is just too much farmland around and not many pigeons due to a cull after winter wheat was sown. Martin

We have seen it fluttering around the paddock behind our back yard fence and feasting on fallen fruit from the Mango tree, often being chased away by the Rainbow Lorikeets and Noisy Miner birds. Cheers Dennis Good bet it is a pet because the blue morph is a captive bred color variation, green is the wild form. Still nice find and nice photos! Ed
