Took the opportunity tonight, and headed for a 'no light pollution' shoot.
Typically the clouds started to enter the frame
anyway left the camera until I had enough images for the experiment.
Image below are the results. Not too shabby

Not sure that iso noise is acceptable at 6400 , anyone with more knowledge in this area please post and share your tips

Canon 5DM3, Rokinon 14 f2.8, 25 sec, ISO 1000, Alpine Labs Pulse controller, 350 frames composited using StarstaX. All light on the landscape is natural moonlight. Definitely copyrighted. Air temperature was about -5F at the start of the shoot. External batteries and telescope/lens warmer to keep the camera from freezing/fogging.

You probably don't need your ISO that high. A lower ISO will reduce the number of stars that show up on your trail, but you will still end up with the same effect. You can try experimenting with wide apertures and a lower ISO. I took the photo of the covered bridge above with an ISO of 1000. There was about 1/4 moon for lighting the scene. Even with the ambient light and the lower ISO, there were plenty of stars to get the trail I was looking for.
