Some more shots from the synchronized figureskating competitions i've been shooting this weekend. Naturally this was a good first opportunity for me to push the EOS R and see if it could handle sports and action photography. I need to get a 'feel' of the camera and it's AF system and this weekend i got a taste of it, some of it tastes great while others gave me a bad taste.
Let me quickly just mention the good stuff and it's the responsiveness of the AF system, the fast tracking, the face and eye tracking even on fast moving subjects like these skaters, the raw image quality is great! the noise levels are low even at high iso's, the single card slot was not an issue.
The bad stuff i noticed were the obvious lag and stuttering between frames in a sequence which was quite annoying, the viewfinder display lag seems bigger than the one on the main display which is why i stuck to shooting using the main display as my viewfinder (weirdness!), the low fps could sometimes be an issue but not most of the time, it was faster and more precise at tracking an locking when enabling, the EOS R loves fast glass, the faster the lens the better is seems to focus.
Anyways, two more photos from today. first one shot with a 15mm fisheye lens and the second one with the Canon 135/2.
