joayne, mourning doves, jays, and some others are still common. At least, the photographers over in the Birds section find plenty of them. Or maybe there's just one of each and they pass it around.

An even simpler scale--

Look, I was referring to the fact that John now lives in Hawai'i and most of those birds are not found there.
I am a bird "shooter" myself and I'm pretty aware of birds and their habitats.. I'm pretty sure that clock came with John from upstate New York to Hawai'i ;-)a

I have been busy and took me a while to find something different: a 1955 Protona Minifon P-55, a miniature wire recorder.

Is that what it is? I had no idea what it was used for.

Not quite. Analog is to digital as acoustic guitar is to electric guitar. Before there were electric guitars, acoustic ones were just called guitars. What makes something the analog version is the existence of a digital version. I'm not joayne, of course, but I understand our task as a search for analog things that have a digital equivalent. I wouldn't count wildlife as analog, because a digital version hasn't replaced it.

.
Oh, Look

Thanks for the clarification. . The way you explained it finally enabled me to get a sense of what "analog" really is.

Unfortunately, none of the things that I sought to photograph this week have digital versions of themselves, so I wasn't in a position to participate. . But I did really enjoy the theme, coming to a good understanding of what "analog" means, and seeing the unusually good images that were submitted.

Can't wait to check out the new theme - thanks, Joayne!

.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".
