Judging by the beak, I'd say NOT a thrush. Looks like a relative of the Butcherbird or Oriole?

Red-Browed Treecreeper?

You've got a beautiful bird there.
Is it frequenting your place? Very nice

Graham following your lead I googled it and found photos very similar stating the grey shrike thrush

We don't have Treecreepers or Orieles I'm aware of

Yes, I think he lives around our place. There are some bushes where he can hide.

A bushfire victim. We had a bush fire across the road from our home. Fortunately the wind was blowing away from us so no damage but even so a bit of a scare.
This "kookie" is a regular in our garden - part of a whole family that has been around for years - and he must have had a brush with the fire. His top feathers are all brown and he sounds a bit rough. No "laughing" for him for a while.

was thrilled to see this little baby tagging along with mum, swimming behind, hanging on inside its wing and riding on top head held high. It was way out in mid dam though.
There were a couple of adults swimming about when out of the blue one charged this little tacker and scruffed it by the neck

Edit, I gather these are Hoary-headed Grebe being in Tasmania, not Australasian Grebe

thanks Graham
Having not seen them before then finding one a few miles away late last year I'm not sure if they're getting more prevalent or I just wasn't aware before. I saw a couple a few miles from here yesterday also.

This bird landed just above the Wattle-bird posted above and sang its heart out.
The Wattle-bird was nonplussed and just kept preening itself

Lovely shots. I think it's time we had another holiday on the Apple isle :-)
