Snow shoes are definitely recommended although I did it without. Just makes it tougher. If you wait a bit in the morning others will blaze a trail and pack down the snow. I just like being being out there before all the tourists arrive mid morning.

Last night at the Hooker Valley Track of Mt Cook National Park, New Zealand. The glow was amazing! I absolutely loved the light that e got.
