edmidlifecrisis Cream of the Crop More info Post edited over 3 years ago by edmidlifecrisis. (3 edits in all) | Feb 01, 2020 11:51 | #7037 Cuttlefish wrote in post #19001863 Beautiful. I suppose they are "flirting" but I'm not very good interpreting bird movements ![]() Maybe they are just a happy family with the little chick there! A lot of this is greeting activity when the one that is out gathering food returns to the nest. It appears to be ritualistic. That is what was going on here. A group of us saw the male return to the nest and then watched and snapped away as they engaged in this sort of activity. It is really great to see. They do the same thing when the mate returns to the nest with nesting materials. They are very photogenic because they are in their full breeding colors and extra plumage so the photos always look wonderful with lots of textures if the light is decent. Those of us taking the photos have most of the work done for us by these amazing birds! You just have to be there and have access to a rookery!! This particular pair are the rock stars of Wakodahatchee Wetlands in south Florida. Millions probably of photos are taken of them.....I'm just one in the crowd..... Ed

Magnus3D Goldmember More info | Feb 01, 2020 13:36 | #7038 Please don't ban me, but i have borrowed this crap lens from work just to test it during the weekend. It's the very first 18-55 kit lens without IS and STM. It's just plastic and cheap glass. I wanted to see how this lens would perform when hooked up to the R, and to my surprise it did very well. This weekend i'm covering a boat fair and it's not the best lighting in there. But the 18-55 kept on focusing no matter what, even when shooting video. CScottIV I should keep some things to myself! More info | Feb 02, 2020 14:22 | #7045 CyberDyneSystems wrote in post #19002284 I've been sticking all sorts of old EF lenses (and FD) on the R just to see what happens. I now have a very affordable 50mm f/1.4 with manual focus,. a compact (but heavy) 70-300mm DO with lightning AF and 4 stops of IS,. and yes, the "kit" 18-135mm STM has been on it. Although I haven't used it in a long while I loved the EF-s 18-55 that came with the Rebel XT. The only thing I didn't like about it was that you couldn't use a petal style lens hood on it because the front of the lens rotates. Charles
