Thanks. I thought about taking the shot with the lens stopped down a bit to get the background in focus, but decided against it.

I continue to see the Mamiya 645 and very little Pentax 645 content. I wonder, why? Better lenses? Interchangeable backs? Price? What gives?

Edit - Meter? Interchangeable finders?

I have a Pentax 645N. The lenses are excellent (even the manual focus ones) and you can still buy them new. Since the introduction of the 645D, all the lenses shot up in price. I luckily bought all my lenses before the 645D was announced. The meter in my 645N is the most accurate of all my cameras. I haven’t shot with mine lately because I have been more interested in larger formats.

When I heard Kodak was raising prices I decided to try out a few rolls of ultramax and I actually really like it. It's not a replacement for Portra 400 or anything, but I wouldn't mind shooting this and saving Portra for the special moments.

All self scanned on a Plustek 8200i using CNMY actions

Those have come out really nicely. The price of Portra means it's going to be an occasional use film for me as well, but seeing as I like the results I've had from Kodak's other offerings, this doesn't bother me too much. I am keen to see what the roll of Portra I currently have in comes out like though.

Some high contrast scenes on Tri-X pushed to 1600 ...

Still scanning 30 year old negatives, found these today, thought they were unusual enough to share. The lake froze over, then the level dropped a foot or so, leaving the ice hanging from the trees and shrubs. Canon AE-1

Has anyone here shot Kodak Pro Image 100? I just order 5 rolls this morning for $24 so it's definitely cheap. I've heard it's a mix between Portra 400 and Ektar 100 and is supposed to be good with skin tones. I've watched some videos and the results seem to be all over the place. Some videos show wonderful skin tones, deep greens and slightly muted reds and then others show extremely red or green skin tones and harsh contrast. Just curious if anyone here has had any experience with it.

I just ordered a few rolls, but haven't had a chance to shoot it. I agree with you about the results being all over the place; everyone's using different scanners and in different lighting making it impossible to judge. Whenever I get the chance to shoot some I'll post here.

I bought one roll and shot it in Mexico - goes to the lab tomorrow. I bought a pro-pack before I left that is in the fridge. $350 pesos (I think $18 USD) - I am looking forward to seeing what it's like. It was suggested to me by a guy on instagram, he said he likes to shoot it at either 100 or 64.

Lovely Black and White, especially considering it was originally a colour negative.

A couple more on Tri-X. The first one made me laugh because jaja is how haha is expressed in Spanish; the second one was just an excellent bodge.
