Lovely photo Many like that left up there Pippan? Sadly no. This was part of the North Australia railway, which ran from Darwin to Pine Creek to service the gold rush, was extended to the Katherine River in 1917, and then across the river and on to Birdum c1929 (Birdum and few other towns at which it stopped no longer exist). It was intended to join it with the Ghan line (from Adelaide) at Alice Springs (another 1000 km south) but never did, and it was closed in 1976 with much of the infrastructure being sold off. The Darwin station Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.
