Today I was lucky to find a wasp ready to leave its chamber whilst an adult looked on. It is interesting to see the difference between the eyes in the emerging wasp and the adult.

I used the Canon MPE-65 at approx. x2 for this shot.

Cheers

We had rain and drizzle today, so I set up under the porch and took some photos of the wasp's nest with the (300mm) + (x2.0 Extender) + (Canon Extension Tubes 25mm + 12mm) which placed me around 2 metres from the nest, a safe working distance.:-)

The addition of the Extender and Extension Tubes did not appear to affect either the AF or image quality which was quite pleasing.

I also noticed yesterday's "newborn baby" - it's the wasp with the dark eyes (bottom of frame), whereas the adult eyes are mottled.

Cheers

Dennis

wife calls this a stink beetle.
I have no idea what it is. I thought it looked like a weevil

It was in the kitchen sink and I thought it had drowned.
Took it outside and it flipped upside down. I righted it and after a while it started moving
