Woodland kingfisher. This beautiful summer visitor of ours is usually perched in thick bush with busy backgrounds so I was thrilled with how this little guy obliged.

A few more with the 1.4TC. It helps if I adjust my normal sharpening routines a bit. The D500 files stand up to it, although I usually sharpen very conservatively. I assume that with a Z50, I could safely return to my conservative sharpening.
A pair of Wigeons, usually very lively birds, but I caught them mostly asleep.

In order to post more than two images, you have to host them on something like Flicker, SmugMug, or similar and embed them into the post.

These look nice too.

Have you tried Topaz Denoise AI? If not, you REALLY need to give it a shot. It uses AI to remove noise w/o impacting detail and also sharpen the "in focus" objects. It really rocks, particularly on the Nikon files. It can be run as standalone or as a LR or PS add-in. 99% of the time, I use LR for indexing, basic color, brightness, & crop, and Denoise AI for noise & sharpening.

You can get a fully functional 30 day trial to evaluate. The Z body files process a little different, as the noise characteristic is different. In Denoise AI, I change the processing engine from Denoise to the older AI Clear and it works better - on my Z50 & Z6 images. AI Clear is included with Denoise AI.

Well... I had hoped to make more progress on them tonight, but only got to look at a few.
Wow had no idea rabbits eat those cacti like things!?

Our new new captures (lifers, as some say) on the trip included: Costa's Hummingbird, Gambel's Quail, Anna's Hummingbird, Ruddy Duck, Cinnamon Teal, Eared Grebe, Horned Grebe, Black Phoebe, Verdin, Abert Towhee, Crissal Thrasher, Black-Tailed Gnat Catcher, Golden Eagle, Hermit Thrush, Green-Winged Teal, and Brewers Blackbird. There will likely be more as I go thru the images, but those were the ones we noted while in the field.

It was truly amazing to see that many new "to us" species in a three day period - IN LAS VEGAS!

Here's a couple quickies from the beginning of Day 1 that Wifey took.

Thank you, Denis. They were a "first for us", and they were soooo pretty in the AM light.

Appreciate it, Matt. No! These guys were quite accommodating and largely unphased by our presence. Early in the morning, they would find a perch near a pond (stump, branch, fence, rebar, whatever) and rocket down to just above water lever & snag gnats, flies, etc. and zip right back to the perch for the next run. It was really cool to watch. Sadly, we were not allowed down to waters edge to catch the bottom end of the exercise, but it was terrific, nonetheless.

Thanks Robert, ditto that! We have the Eastern Phoebes, but had never seen or heard of these. It was a treat.
