Apparently I was a few years off - its a 1955 Kurtis-Kraft 500 KK Sutton Roadster

Nice one owner GT500, had the original price papers showing it cost a little over $5100 back then.  One of the 1966 Shelby Mustang GT350-H cars that Hertz rental cars used to rent.
