Hard to believe that very shortly Nimitz won't be active....and maybe naval bases will be like the scene in Star Trek III (for all Star Trek fans), when Enterprise is going into spacedock and people are saying "that thing in yet?":-) Though it will be cool to see more documentaries about the new Ford class (imagine sailors have an easier time below decks with the new catapult system).

Awesome view and a lovely shot. I’d happily wake up to that view each day

HMS Prince of Wales. Not yet commissioned so, I'm guessing, on trials.

Very nice image.

Do you know if the Royal Navy still flies Harriers, or if they use something else?

Harriers all gone went a few years ago - some to the US and most scrapped the latest "stealthy jet" is the F-35B Lightning II it has vertical take off and landing like the Harrier - but no were near as much class.

She is not fitted with catapults like the US carriers. She and the Queen Elizabeth are still on trials, training the crews etc. and not expected to be on active service for quite a while.

Canon R6 II, RF 800mm.
I like what I like.

As Pagman said, the Sea Harriers are all gone. I had quite an affinity for them as I worked on a simulator many moons ago.

Thanks- I sort of thought they went over to the F-35. The Harriers got your attention, they were loud.
