Just sharing a few photos from our recent family trip.

The first sunset from our balcony was lovely but the best was yet to come.

IMAGE: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49483475092_f26113fb8a_b.jpg

Interesting critters abound. Spiny orb weaver spider. I had better focused shots but this had nice color and light hitting the web.

A white headed capuchin walks across the edge of the infinity pool like a tightrope.

Male and female howler monkeys socialize.

I was shooting the howler monkeys when I could see the colors popping through the trees. I literally ran up the steep hill back to our balcony to get these fantastic colors. Two shot pano using the Tamron 17-28 at 17mm.

Made it hard to pick a favourite.
(DUPLICATE IMAGE)

What a view. But this wouldn't be our last gorgeous sunset.

We did the tour at Manuel Antonio National Park and managed to catch a pair of toucans mating. This was directly after. I did get an action shot too but I liked this composition.

The house we stayed at was called Casa Los Monos and appropriately named as we had daily visitors.

These brown squirrel monkeys were the cutest by far. While I was shooting this, one of them came into our kitchen and checked out the place before heading out. My 2 year old and four year old were very interested and got a little too close for comfort causing him to take off.

A mother carries her juvenile from tree to tree as to not fall behind the rest of the troop.

Unafraid, these guys had no problem coming down the ground level when people were around.

Hibiscus

We had daily visitors of plenty of insects and lizards. My daughter getting eye to eye with this hopper.

Finally got some use out of this underwater housing I originally bought for my 5D3 like 8 years ago. Still worked with my Sony with some careful positioning.

Tough to use and I brought it for the beach but the water wasn’t clear enough near shore, (sandy). I got more use out of it with the kids.

Catching the sunset as the sun breaks the horizon. Note the fishing boat on the left of the frame for scale.

A nice way to celebrate. My sis-in-law enjoys another wonderful sunset on her 40th birthday.

Mother in law enjoying a read while the amazing view surrounds.

I really wanted to get up close to these guys but this was the best I got. Heavily cropped but a nice image with two pairs of scarlet macaws flying together.

You wouldn’t know it by looking at them, but these White headed Capuchins are near the top of the food chain. They will eat anything, are very cunning and when hunting in a troop, can best much larger prey. Check out the scar above his eye surely from a battle of sorts.

So cute when little though.

I didn’t get any great sloth shots but did manage a set with one on the move.

It was sad to leave. The country was amazing. Food was great. People were friendly. And we had a house with an amazing view to cap it all off. I hope you enjoyed my photos.

Lovely shots! I like the one of the capuchin walking along the edge of the pool! Can you share where you went and which resort you stayed at? We were in the Arenal area and in the Osa Peninsula when we were there a few years ago. Unforgettable country!

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

Thanks Avondale.

We stayed in the Tulemar resort area of Manuel Antonio. The resort is a series of houses and bungalows that are all maintained by the resort. It's gated with security but the town was very safe. Excellent wildlife. Nearly all the shots are from the resort area. The house we stayed at was a four bedroom place and included everything you'd expect. The house was Casa Los Monos (house of the monkeys). There were a variety of different houses. https://www.tulemarresort.com/ (external link)

Awesome pictures! Looks like the entire family had a great time.

Thanks for sharing these as well as the link. My wife and I were there (central CR in the cloud forest) in '18 and we have been trying to get back - such friendly people and beautiful wildlife/scenery.

I'll definitely keep this area in mind for our next trip there to do something a bit different.

Thanks. We did have a great time and now that I've been back in the Wisconsin winter for a month today, I'm really wishing I was back there. Great vibes down there and I love the nature and wildlife. Pura vida.

Great set of shots. We were in Costa Rica last April and loved it!

My favorite shots are the one with the Capuchin monkey on the infinity pool and the one with your daughter getting eye to eye with the grasshopper.
